Location-based Reminders DO NOT Work on the iPhone 3GS

“There is a significantly different GPS chip in the 4/4S with a much faster acquire time and lower power draw. This may be the reason they turned it off in the 3GS, poor results in early betas.”

Since the release of iOS 4.0, the iPhone has been secretly tracking your location for unknown reasons. From what I have read, the data is not being sent to Apple or anyone else. And that it is sitting dormant on the iPhone as part of a database file in your iPhone backups.
Here is a heat map of my location with the phone since August of 2010. (Not shown on this map are my trips to PR and FL which you would have to zoom out to see)
I downloaded the iPhone Tracker software from the people who discovered this and uploaded the data from my phone to get what you see here. This is legit people!
Here is the link to download the open source software and try it yourself: http://petewarden.github.com/iPhoneTracker/
